Campus Hydroscapes is a riparian corridor improvement for an urban stream on the USEPA 303(d) impaired stream list at the University of Arkansas. Stormwater runoff from urban growth exceeds the stream’s carrying capacity - its ability to maintain normal ecological functions. The stream expresses advanced system dysfunction (i.e., flooding, erosion, and pollution), including property damage. The plan is a holistic stream remediation infrastructure to increase the delivery of urban and ecological services, once thought to be mutually exclusive. Three watershed planning options with different levels of ecological services function as a planning platform. One solution may be implemented immediately, or as resources and political will arise, all three may be phased successively in an evolution towards a climax solution.
